Discuss the problems that the main character faces within your book. What do those problems look like? Is it an external problem, internal problem, or both? What causes the problem? How is the problem being solved...or is it not? Are other characters apart of the problem? Is this problem getting worse or better as you read?
Please explain yourself as if I have not read the book in no less than EIGHT sentences.
Arnold faces a new school and completely different environment, going to a school chock full of white kids. The conditions were rough starting out, the name calling, the bullying, the harassing, it never seemed to have stopped. But that slowly changes as Arnold changes his perspective and actions: he slowly becomes more courageous, a warrior. As Roger, one of the tallest jocks and his entourage approaches Arnold, he insults Arnold. Arnold then decks him straight in the face, nose bleeding and all. Roger then grows a respect for Arnold and from then on Arnold exceeds expectations: begins to date one of the most well-known girls in the grade, makes varsity basketball, and becomes a show on prom dance. The other problem that Arnold faces is keeping his world in balance, keeping both his Reardan and Spokane halves in balance, but turmoil erupts as his Spokane tribe learns that he is attending a different, white high school and they grow a hatred, even going so far as to trash his high school basketball game when Arnold plays for Reardan against Spokane, even his best friend knocks him out cold with little hesitation. This problem is slowly spiraling into chaos and only seemingly getting worse.
